Our new featured exhibit is Beyond the Veil: The Sisters of St. Joseph, Missionaries for Freed Children!

The Amelia Island Museum of History presents Beyond the Veil: The Sisters of St. Joseph, Missionaries for Freed Children, an original exhibit tracing the remarkable journey of French Catholic nuns who came to Florida after the Civil War to educate newly freed children. Based on letters sent to their Motherhouse in France, the exhibit brings their voices to life—revealing their mission, hardships, and enduring legacy.
