Exhibition - DoPiKa: Reinstate

Thursday, Oct 23, 2025 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm
Mulvane Art Museum
1700 South West Jewell Avenue

The DoPiKa Project is a unique collaborative initiative in Topeka that unites the community in honoring the Native nations who ceded the land that now comprises Shawnee County. Led by Native-owned organization 785 Arts, the DoPiKa Project embodies a commitment to meaningful action and education through Land Acknowledgement activities.

Reinstate, the second DoPiKa Project gallery exhibition, illuminates the rich cultural heritage and contemporary expressions of Native artists connected to the state of Kansas. It invites visitors to engage with the narratives and artistic practices of Indigenous communities that mainstream culture has long overlooked. “Reinstate” is a deliberate play on words that emphasizes the necessity of restoring Native voices to the forefront of artistic discourse, particularly about this state.
