The Springfield Arts Commission invites the community to enjoy a vibrant evening of local art and culture at the Second Friday Art Walk on Friday, May 9, featuring a dynamic new exhibit by artist Peter W. Harris in the City Hall Gallery (225 5th Street). The exhibit will be on display throughout May.
The opening reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public, with light refreshments and live jazz music by the Kelly Butte Trio.
Peter’s collection explores themes of lore and philosophy through expressive drawing and painting. His experimental approach to color and material creates a compelling experience for art enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Youth Art Gallery Spotlight
This month, the Youth Gallery features artwork from the 2025 Youth Raptor Art Challenge, hosted in partnership with the Cascades Raptor Center. Students (grades K–12) from across Oregon submitted pieces highlighting the Barn Owl and American Kestrel, focusing on the birds’ natural adaptations and regional significance.
Special Performance at the Library
Join us for a free clown theater show by Nicole Medema in the Springfield Public Library. This engaging narrative performance starts at 5:15 p.m., so be sure to arrive on time to enjoy the full experience.
